Need something to smile about? The long weekend is almost here and we’re giving you permission to take little breather and enjoy these young sibling raccoons. Baby raccoons are called kits. These two are approximately 5-6 weeks old. They’re a little wobbly on their feet, but their eyes are open. Don’t mistake their cuteness for friendliness though. Like all wild animals, keep your distance and don’t use human food to attract them. Raccoons in the wild have a relatively short lifespan of about 3 years. If they are really healthy and in good conditions, they can live around 4-5 years. We’ll get these two ready for the wild and in a few weeks hopefully release them together.
