Coopers Hawk Rescue – California Wildlife Encounters

“A report came in today that a hawk flew inside of a new hotel being built in the small town of Galt, California. The Coopers hawk was chasing a pigeon and found himself trapped inside the 4th floor of a newly constructed hotel. Christine Lay and myself responded. Christine was able to net the injured Coopers hawk and she then transported the hawk to Wildlife Care Association for a health exam. Coopers hawks often find themselves in compromising situation such as this because they hunt for small birds and during the high speed pursuit, they will follow their prey into a building and end up becoming injured or confused on how to escape the building.”
